15 Top Rock Bands

When you look back over the years you can clearly see many of those that would be considered the top Classic rock bands of all time. With that said, this list was compiled using a combination of radio airplay, album sales, touring history, and to a certain extent how popular they have continued to be over the years.

1. The Beatles

   The Beatles come in at number one in the top bands list as they are considered one of the strongest influences on rock music with sales that are estimated at being over a billion worldwide.
2. Pink Floyd

   Pink Floyd has been around since the beginning of the progressive rock movement and since 1967 their album sales have soared to over 200 million. They also paved the way with their use of light shows and fireworks.

   This band is considered to be one of the first, most successful, and one of those bands that lasted the longest as a power trio. They are a true tribute to the history of rock.
4. Rolling Stones

   When it comes to longevity, popularity, and truly great artists we bring to the list the Rolling Stones. This band has truly lasted the test of time and is still popular, and they are still playing shows.
5. Led Zeppelin

   These artists are considered one of the first of the hippy bands to come out of San Francisco, and although they split up in 1995 you will find they still have a huge following.

    This band is known for their pioneering in the hard rock and heavy metal genre, and in total they have seen more than 100 million albums sold worldwide.
13. Boston
    Album: Boston
    These artists were considered as having the highest grossing debut album in all time when they first released Boston in 1976.
14. Cream
    Album: Wheels Of Fire
    Although this group did not last longer than three years, they had already taken the lead as one of rocks first power trios.
15. Def Leppard
    Album: Hysteria
    This group is well known for their instrumentation and vocals and they have remained at the top for almost 25 years.
